Hi, I'm Sophie
I work as a project manager, a parent, and an expat based in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
Several years ago I moved here with my family, and what began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to Netherlands wasn’t in the plans for the long term. Like many expat relocations, it began as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far bigger.
The first months were demanding — adapting to new systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday tasks felt more complicated than anticipated.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning by doing. Yet gradually, routines formed. We found places that fit us, connected with other families, and began building something that felt solid.
Why I Built Tide Studio Pulse
Most information online was either corporate-level relocation guidance or surface-level tourism material. What was missing was an honest, day-to-day family perspective.
This site exists to bridge that gap — practical guidance drawn from real life in Netherlands.
